Doris Marie Shaver, 80, a florist and homemaker of Great Falls, passed away May 6, 2017 from natural causes. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 13th at 2:00 pm in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home.

Doris was born June 6, 1936 in Los Angeles, California to Sven and Esther (Tice) Lindberg. She married Robert Shaver in 1954 and five wonderful children were brought into this world through their union. They came to realize they were better suited as friends, and although they decided to divorce after 24 years of marriage, Robert and Doris remained friends for life.

Doris met the love of her life, Chad Fittinger, in 1982. He was her best friend and they were blessed to share 16 years together before his passing in 1998.

Her love of flowers inspired her work as a florist. She loved painting, gardening, and the outdoors. Laguna Beach was her absolute favorite place on earth. She cherished every second with her grandchildren, especially at Christmas time, when everyone would decorate the whole house together.

Survivors are her daughters, Margie (Gary) Braach and Jill (Tom) Gatzemeier; sons, Jeff Shaver and Steve (Pattie) Shaver; brother, Bill Lindberg; 11 grandchildren: Nikki Smith, Kaylie Shaver, Kendra Marquart, Josh Braach, Nicole Quintanilla, Rikki Kindler, Daren Shaver, Rischell Day, Jeremiah Flom, Jayme Flom and Zach Kerbs; as well as 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her first husband, Robert Shaver.

Those who have preceded her in death include her parents; Chad Fittinger, daughter, Susie Shaver, and grandson, Christopher Kerbs.
