Edwin Curtis Galloway

March 15, 1931 ~ August 19, 2016 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Edwin Curtis Galloway, 85, passed away from complications of a blood clot August 19, at home with his family and friends.

Ed was born March 15, 1931 in Wise River, Montana to Hugh and Mary Galloway. He attended school in Kila, Montana and Flathead High in Kalispell.  Ed started working odd jobs and in 1949 went to Havre to College where he met the love of his life Betty. They were married Sept. 1, 1951. On Nov. 15th he was drafted into the Marines where he served until 1953, received a meritorious promotion to Sergeant finishing his service in the reserves until 1959.  Ed stayed in construction but tried the Smelter and other jobs; he even got his real estate license, 1968 ventured into apartment rentals.  In 1971 they bought and operated the Terrance Motel until 1979. They started Galloway and Sons in 1976 which grew into Galloway, Inc.  In the 1980’s they invested in Great Falls Lumber and Dairy Queens. Many buildings in the Great Falls and surrounding area benefited from Ed’s construction experience. He retired in 1993.

Ed represented the Lathers’ Union in New York City in 1964; his family attended the World’s Fair. He was a Boy Scout leader, attended cancer support groups being a three time survivor.  He loved jigsaw puzzles, playing pinochle and traveling.  His greatest love was his family, attending their activities and church events. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all eternity in 1984.  He loved to share his testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints “Families are Forever”.

Ed is survived by sons David (Alene), and Steven (Lola) Galloway both of Great Falls; a sister Irene (Byron) Howell; brothers, Calvin (Leah), Ken (Frances) and Larry (Kathy) Galloway; 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty in 2009, a daughter Susan 1982, a grandson Joseph in 1997, 4 brothers and 1 sister.

 A viewing, Friday, August 26th from 6-9 pm at Steven’s home, 202 Sun Prairie Road.

 Funeral Services will be held 2 pm Saturday, August 27, viewing at 1:00 pm, LDS church – 1015 - 15th Avenue South. Burial at Manchester Cemetery at 5:00 pm. Funeral Services by Croxford Funeral Home.

Family suggests donations to be made to the Huntsman Cancer Center or Great Falls Rescue Mission.
