Welcome to the memorial page for

Frances Lucille Wiley

September 2, 1923 ~ May 16, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Frances L. Wiley, 93, of Great Falls, passed away May 16, 2017 at Peace Hospice.  A Graveside Service will be held at Highland Cemetery on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 2 PM.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Croxford Funeral Home.

Frances was born in Kolin, MT, attended the one-room Kolin grade school, and graduated as salutatorian from Moccasin High School.  She was raised on the family farm with her four younger brothers.  In November 1940, Frances married Raymond Wiley, her life partner for 41 years, in Missoula.  Early on they moved frequently due to Raymond’s work for the Montana Highway Department.  Eventually they settled in Belt for nine years and then lived in Great Falls the rest of their lives.  They had three children:  Kenneth, Sharon and Richard (Dick).

Frances had a deep and abiding faith as well as an amazing inner strength that served her well throughout her life and especially when Dick became ill.  She cared for him in Helena and Great Falls with total devotion and dedication.  She strongly believed in organ donation after Dick received a transplant that extended and enhanced his life.

Frances loved to read, solve crosswords, play bridge and pinochle, and cook.  She made great meals and desserts but fudge was her specialty, winning over anyone who tasted it.  Sports were also a big part of her life starting with her fathers’ and brothers’ involvement in baseball, to her sons’ high school sports, to a lifetime of watching her favorite teams.  She looked forward to travelling anywhere, anytime and had a bag packed so she could head out at a moment’s notice.

Frances cared deeply for her family and friends.  She celebrated their importance in her life by remembering their special occasions with a card or a call or both.  She was our center—the thread that held us together and made sure we stayed connected.

Frances is survived by her son, Kenneth; daughter, Sharon (Rich); grandson, Matthew (Tammy); granddaughter, Kari; great-granddaughters, Tayler and Hailey; brothers, Harold and Edward; and many special nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; son, Richard; daughter-in-law, Minnie; parents, Albert and Alice; brothers, David and Dale.

Thanks to all her caregivers, and a special thank you to the Hospice staff who gave her such comfort during her final days.  To our family, friends and neighbors, your love and support meant the world to us.

Memorials may be sent to Peace Hospice, The American Diabetes Association or to the charity of your choice.
