George Lincoln Holm, 98, of Great Falls passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 due to natural causes. George was born in Tyler, Minnesota to parents Mads and Karen Holm on February 12, 1919. Following his younger years, George was drafted by the United States Army to serve in World War II. After having proudly served his tour of duty he returned to the states, taking up residency in Montana where he created a new life for himself as a letter carrier for the USPS in Libby, MT. Along this new journey he met who would be the love of his life, Dora Holm, with whom their lives were blessed with one son.
When George wasn’t delivering mail, he found other hobbies and interests for spending his time. He took to farming as well as playing music for his band, George’s Playboys. He also found peace in watering the plants at the library for several years. George was also an outdoorsman, enjoying all the things Montana had to offer such as hunting, exploring the ghost towns, and attending the rodeos held in the area. As George moved into his later years, he found new friends and activities at the senior center, a place he loved well.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, George Caley Holm and his loving wife, Dora Holm.
George is survived in death by his two grandchildren, Shawn (Katie) Holm, Brandi Holm; and four great-grandchildren, Bryce Hill, Kaelee Hill, Zoe and Ali Holm.
