Harry E. Harpine

July 17, 1920 ~ May 24, 2016 (age 95) 95 Years Old


Harry Eugene Harpine was born in Tiffin, Ohio on July 17, 1920 to Elliot and Phoebe Harpine.  He was one of 10 children.  He passed away on May 24, 2016 at his place of residence at the Grandview.  A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Noon at the Manchester Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at the Great Falls Community Church of God, 3300 3rd Ave. North, at 1:30 pm. 

Harry came with his family to the Hardy Creek area in 1928, where he attended school in Cascade until 1932.  In 1930, his mother passed away and he went to the orphan’s home in Great Falls, MT with his youngest sister, until they were old enough to take care of themselves.  When he was 15 years of age he went to Wolf Creek, where he stayed and worked until 1937.  In 1937 Harry moved to Cascade, MT and finished school.  It was there he met Juanita Stauffer and they were married in 1941.

Harry served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1949.  He was stationed at the East Air Base (Great Falls) and also did a tour at Hickam Field in Hawaii, as well as Kwajalein on the Marshall Islands.  He attained the rank of SSG.  After his honorable discharge he joined the Montana National Guard and was honorably discharged from there in March 1951.  He also worked at the Air Base in Great Falls in civil service until his retirement.

Harry has attended the Great Falls Community Church of God, formally known as Boston Heights Church of God in Great Falls since 1942, except for a 20-year period when they lived in Port Angeles, WA.

He is survived by his children, Delnita Davis of Great Falls, Patricia Klotz of Great Falls, Luanne Baxter of Superior, Verland (Diane) Harpine of Polson, Royal (Sue) Harpine of Great Falls, Bruce (Dawn) Harpine of Oregon; 12 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Those who have preceded him in death include his wife Juanita Harpine; parents, all of his siblings; three grandchildren, Morris Davis, Jr, Terri Selden, and Jerron Harpine.
