Hope Humphrey

November 15, 1945 ~ March 31, 2017 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Great Falls, MT - Esperanza "Hope" Humphrey, 71, passed away of natural causes on Friday, March 31, 2017, peacefully in her sleep. Cremation has taken place under the care of Croxford Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, June 24th at 11:00 AM at Highland Cemetery, with Deacon Robert Ferguson presiding.

Hope was born November 15, 1945, and raised in San Jose, CA. In her twenties, she gave birth to her two children, David and Erica. Just a few, short years later, she met the love of her life in Seattle; a Navy man named Melrose Humphrey. They were married on October 28, 1975 in Cheyenne, WY, and raised a fine family together.

When Melrose retired from the Navy after 20 years of service; Hope and Mel settled down in Great Falls but always seemed to be on some sort of adventure.  Whether it was RV camping, heading to Yuma or Winterhaven for the winter; or just to travel our great country together. They were inseparable.

After Mel's passing on January 29, 2016, Hope overcame her heartbreak to continue to be the matriarch of her family. She continued to love, lead, and support her family throughout the rest of her life. She was a dependable sister, a doting wife, a fantastic mother, the best grandmother, a super great-grandmother, a master crafter (as the Country Mouse), a home-maker, and THE potty-trainer supreme. She enjoyed traveling and would often visit her family in NW Montana and California. Doing so, as recently, as two weeks before her passing.

She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have been in her life.

Hope is survived by her son, David (Teresa) Ayala and family; her daughter, Erica (Estephan) Salazar and family; her brother, David Gallegos; her sisters, Nellie Riskie, Esther Guerrero, and Margie Hinojos; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and oh-so-many other family members, that will miss her deeply.

Hope was preceded in death by her husband, Melrose Houston Humphrey II; her mother, Lorenza Hinojos; her father, Manuel Hinojos; a brother, Sammy Mendoza; and a sister, Barbara Castro.
