James (Pinky) Charles Keyser, 91 of Great Falls, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 in a local care facility from natural causes. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June 14, at 2 p.m. in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home with Burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.
Pinky was born June 14, 1925, in Lewistown, MT to parents Donald G. and Nina Ames Keyser. He attended school in Kalispell until 1937 when the family moved to Great Falls. Pinky Graduated from Great Falls High in 1943 and joined the United States Army. After his military service ended in 1946, Pinky took a job with the United States Postal Service. On His Birthday in 1980 he retired with 34 years of proud service. Although he never married he became a surrogate father to all his nieces and nephews. We couldn’t have asked for a better uncle. Pinky truly had a heart of gold.
Pinky was an avid reader, drew joy from drawing and loved wood carving. He enjoyed traveling often to visit family and friends. He was a member of the Thursday Morning Art Group as well as the Elks Drum and Bugle Corp and the VFW Post #1087 in Great Falls.
He is survived by Susan Lee and Family of Taylor, SC, Sally Ehnot of Great Falls, Becki and Bridgette McGillis of Great Falls, Candy Emerson and Family of Polson, MT, and Dr. Jim Keyser and wife of Portland, OR.
Those who have preceded James in death include parents; sister, Helen M. Hansen; brother, Dr. Raymond Keyser; niece, Penny; and nephew, John.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Annaliza and the staff at Parkview Assisted Living as well as everyone at Peace Hospice for their kind caring support.
