Joseph Thomas Alfrey, 73, of Great Falls, passed peacefully away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at his home. A Funeral Service will be held this Saturday, July 1st at 11:00 AM with a Visitation one hour prior at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 5th ward (1401 9th St. NW), with Bishop Ron Colwell presiding.

Thomas was born on January 6, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lillian and Joseph Alfrey. He was raised in Salt Lake City and received his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Utah, where he ran track. He had the honor to serve on a mission to New Zealand for his church. While in Utah he served in the National Guard.

In 1967, he married Sharon Vriens, and from this union they were blessed with one daughter and four sons. Tom worked for Mountain Bell in Colorado until he was transferred to the Great Falls area. He was proud to serve as the vice president on the Great Falls Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed serving in many civic organizations.

Tom liked to shoot a round of golf with his buddies. He loved being a grandpa and spending time with his grandkids. He thought of them as the “best”. Known to be soft spoken, he was a loving man to all.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon; daughter, Katerrie Alfrey of Missoula; sons, Trever (Dani) Alfrey, Oliver (Jennifer) Alfrey, Gaven Alfrey, Ethan (Stephanie) Alfrey; brother, Roger Alfrey; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
