Kenneth Lawrence Kenyon passed away on July 27, 2017 in Great Falls, MT. His sister, Diane, was by his side. Ken was 83 years old.

                Ken was born on March 28, 1934, in his grandparent’s home in Red Lodge, MT, to Cecil and Teresa Kenyon. His father was a building contractor and the family moved between Wyoming and Colorado, before settling in Great Falls. His mother taught school, later becoming a homemaker, staying home to raise her two children.

                Ken attended school in Great Falls, and after graduating from Great Falls High School in 1952, he went to work for his father. He soon decided to strike out on his own, and moved to Seattle, where he found employment with the newspaper, The Seattle P.I. While there, he was drafted into the Army. He completed basic training at Fort Ord in California and was then stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, where his test scores were so high that he obtained the status of Cadre. His last post was at the Thule Air Base in Greenland.

                When he returned home from his military service, he resumed working for his father, and then became a driver for Intermountain Transportation. It was during this time that he met and married Sharon Kelleher. Shortly thereafter he began his career as a postal carrier and retired after 30 dedicated years. Ken loved working with people and said the post office was a good fit for him. It was also his love for his fellow man that motivated him to become heavily involved in the Kingdom Hall he attended. As a devout Jehovah’s Witness, Ken enjoyed serving as an elder, and said his favorite involvement of his belief was the door-to-door ministry. He enjoyed a number of activities in his free time, including going dancing, traveling, and especially collecting comics books. He began his hobby as a young boy and continued acquiring comics throughout his life. He amassed many thousands of issues, but said “DC Comics was one of my favorites.” When asked if he would have chosen another hobby, he shook his head and with a playful grin, said “No.” He also loved being with his family, whether hiking in the mountains, playing Trivial Pursuit, or enjoying a picnic along the river.

                Although he never attended a post-secondary institution, he was an exceedingly self-educated man. His thirst for knowledge led him to read through countless volumes of historical books and encyclopedias. His constant research for biblical knowledge motivated him to do an in-depth comparison of the ruling dynasties mentioned in the Bible, with many published historical studies and documents. His mastery of the Bible enabled him to reference any scriptures to help clarify a point.

                Ken had a witty sense of humor and often had people laughing at his one-liners. His sister, nieces and nephews loved him dearly and will miss him terribly. He is survived by his sister, Diane Pokarney of California; his nieces, Cheri (Tom) Pokarney-Doyle of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, Christy (John) Pokarney-Michaels of California; and his spouse, Sharon Kenyon of Great Falls.

                Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4th from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Croxford Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held the following day, August 5th at 2:00 PM in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Highland Cemetery.
