BLACK EAGLE - LaVaunne Ethel Vanest, 87, of Black Eagle, MT passed away December 9,2017 at Cambridge, Ct of natural causes. LaVaunne was born on February 26, 1930 to Earl Leek and Matildo Erickstid in Stackweather, DO. A retired hotel owner/operator she leased Weise + Stevens Hotel in 1977. She later bought the Brent Hotel in 1980, and finally her home in Black Eagle, MT. LaVaunne was good at solving puzzles, loved to read, became versed in gardening and drew joy from spending time with her sons. Her survivors include Sons William R Riggin,and Gary A. Riggin, Grandchildren Jeff Campbell and Jeri Lynn Campbell, Half Sisters Murial Hunter, Avis Harboldt, Edyth Baker, Jo Ann Matte, Half Brother Earl Leek, and numerous nieces and nephews. Those who have preceded LaVaunne in death include Son Earl R. Riggin, Daughter Sharon Campbell, Step Sister Ethel Hanson, Step Mother Veronica Leek, Brothers Vernon Leek and Kennith Leek.
