On Sept. 23, 2016 Marcia Lee Staigmiller, 76, passed away peacefully after a long, hard-fought battle with liver disease and cancer.  A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1326 1st Ave. North, Great Falls. 

Marcia was born Sept. 26, 1939 to Joe and Dorothy (Larson) Hunter. She grew up, attended grade school, middle school, and high school in Great Falls. Forever being a proud “Bison”! 

In 1958, she married Kenneth Ely Staigmiller.  After spending a year in California they returned to Montana and the family ranch at Eden.  With them they brought their first son, Mike.  Kurt, Lisa and Mark soon joined the family and for the next 20 years they enjoyed life at the Ridge Top Ranch.  In 1977, due to health issues the family moved to Great Falls. In 1983, Ken passed away.

Besides being a homemaker and ranch wife, Marcia also worked as a travel agent, for the Cascade Co. Detox Center, in hotel events and catering, and as a rural mail carrier. Community involvement was a large part of Marcia’s life.  Some of those include: Cowbells, Eden Home Demonstration, 4-H, Kellogg Extension Education Program, Lewis & Clark Heritage Trail Foundation, Cascade Co. Planning Board, Sons of Norway, Degree of Honor, Ad Club, and Steven Ministries.  Marcia enjoyed cake decorating, flower arranging, various crafts, attending the symphony and dancing.  Her most treasured times were those spent with family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Mike (Sheila) Staigmiller of Great Falls, Kurt Staigmiller of Eden, Lisa (Scott) Hovland of Sunburst, Mark (Mary) Staigmiller of Great Falls.  Grandchildren, Sonya Crosby, Tiffany, Jasmine and Zach (Becca) Staigmiller, Brandon and Kelsey Staigmiller, Garrett (Holly) Hovland, Kendra (Nick) Posselt and John (Courtney) Hovland. Great-grandchildren, Nathen, Jayden, Axtin, Jordan, Lily, Robert, Zeagen, Wyatt, Halle and Brooklyn.  Brother, Chris (Viv) Hunter, sister, Pat Tessmer, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding Marcia in death were her husband, parents, and great-grandson, Zaden. 

 Cremation has taken place under the direction of Croxford Funeral Home.  Private burial of ashes will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to Lewis & Clark Foundation, P.O Box 398, Great Falls, MT 59401, or to the donor’s choice.
