Marianna (Stevens) McCrackenFebruary 17, 1931 ~ January 8, 2018 (age 86)
Marianna McCracken passed away at 86 years old on January 8th, 2018 in Highgate Senior Living, Great Falls Montana following a long battle with cancer. Marianna was born on February 17th, 1931 to William and Nita Stevens in Oelwein Iowa. Marianna attended the University of Iowa where she earned a degree of Bachelor of Arts. While attending the University of Iowa Marianna was a proud member of the Scottish Highlanders, a world-famous bagpipe band.
Marianna married Glen Taylor McCracken on December 27, 1952 in Oelwein, Iowa. Together Marianna and Glen had three sons, Steven Taylor McCracken of Great Falls, Michael Scott McCracken of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and William Mark McCracken of Seattle, Washington. Glen’s job with IBM took the family from Des Moines Iowa to Cleveland Ohio, back to Davenport Iowa and finally to Anchorage Alaska. Throughout all these years, Marianna kept the family safe, disciplined and taught all her children to be good, loving and respectful of others. She loved to read books and spend time with her family; she also turned out to be one hell of a good Halibut fishermen.
In 1990, Glen and Marianna retired to Bend, Oregon, where they spent ten years. In 2000, Glen and Marianna moved to Montana City, Montana to be closer to family. Marianna is left behind by the large and loving family she spent her life creating and nurturing. Marianna is survived by her three sons Steve, Mike, and Bill, two daughters-in-law BJ McCracken of Great Falls and Jane McCracken of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and five grandchildren Rachael McCracken of Los Angeles, California and Caitlin McCracken of Newburyport Massachusetts, and Lesley McCracken, Taylor McCracken, and Gregory McCracken of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and one great granddaughter Hazel Klaeb of Los Angeles, California.
A private memorial service celebrating Marianna and Glens life and internment will be held at a later date in Riverton, Iowa.
