My family and I lived across the street from Marie and Matt when I was a young girl in the early 1990s. I remember spending many afternoons at the Thoeney's home playing with their cats and eating freshly baked cookies. When my family and I moved away from the neighborhood, we continued to keep in touch with Marie and Matt over the years. Fond memories of mine include Marie and Matt always making an effort to attend my brother and I's birthdays, confirmations, graduations and other special events. My brother and I still reminisce about how Marie would always bring a gift for both us because she never wanted either of us to feel left out. Marie had such a big heart and I will forever be grateful for the time I was able to spend with her.

With love, Sara (Schievelbein) Caskey

I knew Marie for over 43 years. My son, Jason, was 2 at the time, and she so enjoyed him and later my daughter, Jeana. A few years later we had a special bond when we both experienced being a widow at a young age. We also enjoyed "scrapbooking" together at workshops and retreats--even out of town and overnights. She was so kind to animals and hosted many cats through the years. When Jason & Jeana were back last Thanksgiving weekend, we stopped to see Marie at the Beehive and she still knew each of them, though it was 40 years later. I appreciated our friendship and will miss her. I feel for you sisters as there can be a special bond with sisters. I was glad to see Roberta when she was here. I feel for both of you in your loss and send my love and sympathy. Judy Riesenberg, Great Falls, MT
