Maxine Esther (Spitzer) Lewis was born on August 8, 1926 near Truesdale, Iowa.  The daughter of Kirby and Lula (Davidson) Spitzer.  Educated at Grant #2 and Truesdale High School.  She married Russell Lewis on November 20, 1945.  They lived in Spencer, Iowa; Omaha, Nebraska; and Evreux, France before moving to Great Falls in 1962.  A member of the Senior Citizen Center and V.F.W. Auxiliary, she loved growing flowers, reading, and traveling.  She was most proud of her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Bret) Hagel; sons, Larry (Julia), and Dan Lewis; former daughter-in-law, Cheryl Lewis; 10 grandchildren, Chad Lewis and Stacey Lewis (OR), Russell Lewis (FL), Jay Lewis (SD), Katie Gorndt (CA), Scott Hagel, Amanda Kinsey, and Matt Hagel (Great Falls), Carter Lewis (TN), and Trevor Lewis (Germany); 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Russell; son Kirby; daughter-in-law, Celeste; her mother and father; brothers, Marvin and Everett (Bus) Spitzer; and sisters, Virginia Kruckman, Geneva Sharp, Betty Wagner, and Arline Waggoner.

Maxine lived for her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  A private family service is planned.
