Mearlin Lee Thomas, 82, passed away in Hospice House on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from a lengthy illness, surrounded by family and friends. The Funeral Service will be in the Dupuyer Community Hall on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 2:00 PM, with a Visitation starting at Noon. A short Graveside Service will follow at the Dupuyer Cemetery. A Reception back at the Dupuyer Community Hall will follow the burial.

Mearlin was born in Dupuyer, MT on August 9, 1934 to William and Minnie Thomas. He proudly served in the Air National Guard for six years.  He married Marie Walstad of Dutton on December 29, 1963.  Together they raised three children, Melinda (Keith) Stempke, Louis Thomas and Mike (Candice) Thomas. Mearlin farmed and ranched most of his life. He and Marie hauled cattle all over the USA.  He liked hunting and fishing, going to Glacier Park, going on short trips and family dinners.

Mearlin was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Edna; brother-in-law, Charlie Parocai; one great-grandchild, Malachi Matthew Nichols Stempke.

He is survived in death by his wife, Marie Thomas; sister, Bessie Webb; his children; three grandsons, James (Stephanie) Stempke, Daniel and Shane Stempke; one granddaughter, Kelsey Stubbs; two great-grandchildren, Damon and Jaxson Stempke; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
