Welcome to the memorial page for

Mildred Anna (Koutecky) Lucero

July 2, 1931 ~ May 11, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Great Falls, MT – On May 11, 2017, we lost our kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt Mildred “Millie” Lucero, 85. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2017, at Christ United Methodist Church, 2900 9th Ave. South, Great Falls.

Born in Great Falls July 2, 1931 to Anton and Zophie Koutecky, Millie grew up in Conrad. She moved to Great Falls, where she worked as a floral designer.

In 1957 she met Sam C. Lucero and they married in 1958. Together, they raised a son and a daughter, and enjoyed many family outings to Benchmark and Augusta. Millie was always up for hiking, camping and fishing, and was known for bringing her popular dishes to family get-togethers. She had a green thumb and houseplants thrived under her care.

Millie entered the social services field in 1966 and found her true calling assisting the elderly as a home attendant and later working with children and families. She retired in 1993, and spent her retirement years tending her garden and traveling the globe with her husband and friends. She had fond memories of trips to Hawaii, Europe, Australia, Mexico and Peru.

A two-time breast cancer survivor, Millie was active for several years in the volunteer support group Reach to Recovery. She enjoyed the many friends she met through the group.

A modest and gentle soul, Millie had an infectious laugh and smile. Her proudest days revolved around the accomplishments of others – the college graduations and weddings of her children. She took particular delight in her granddaughter Aspen, whose soccer games she enjoyed watching, rain or shine.

Millie is survived by her husband Sam; son, Charlie (Heather); daughter, Yvonne (Brad Snow); granddaughter, Aspen Lucero, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Koutecky.

The family is grateful to the caring and professional staff at the Grandview Ario Cottages for the exceptional care they provided Millie.
