Richard Lee Koontz, 66, of Fort Shaw, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Benefis Hospital of cancer.  A Visitation for Richard will be held Wednesday, July 27th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home. 

Born on December 1, 1949 in Pocatello, Idaho to Sherman and Elizabeth Brown Koontz.   Richard grew up in both Idaho and Montana.  He served in the US Air Force for 21 years as a mechanic before retiring as a Master Sergeant.  On December 9, 2005 he married Peggy Marshall and they were together until the end.

Rick loved to cook for barbeques at various public events and loved to cook for his family and friends every chance he could.  He loved working on vehicles.  His biggest pleasure was to joke around with people to make them laugh. He will definitely be missed and was very much loved.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Koontz of Fort Shaw; children, Laury (Layne) Swartz of Smithfield, UT, Christi (Nate) Peterson, of Bountiful, UT, John (Grace) Wood of Poplar, MT and Melanie (Jason) Elam of Great Falls, MT; sister, Barbara Swartz; brothers, Steve Koontz, Tom Koontz, Ron Koontz, Ray Koontz; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
