Robert Ellis Stanfield, 84, of Great Falls, MT, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017 of Emphysema at Peace Hospice, with family by his side. Cremation has been entrusted to Croxford Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, May 26, at 11:00 AM, held at Faith Lutheran Church, 1601 2nd Ave N, Great Falls, with a Luncheon to follow. A short Graveside Service at Mt. Olivet will take place following the luncheon.

Bob was born on October 7, 1932 in Great Falls, MT, to parents James Ellis and Lila Jeanette Stanfield. Bob spent his entire life in Great Falls. After High School, he left the family farm in Dutton to join the Army where he served in a variety of capacities for the five years he proudly served. When he returned home to Great Falls, he married the Mayor’s daughter, Irene Steffani, on July 20, 1957. Together they had two children. Bob owned and ran his own business for 40 years; Bob’s 7th Street Standard, on Central Avenue. He always wore a smile and provided friendly service six days a week to many long-time customers. He answered numerous service calls on snowy days to help others out of predicaments.

Bob owned several campers, motorhomes, boats, and motorcycles over the years. He enjoyed fishing and being the official boat driver with a boatload of kids at many of the lakes in Montana. He and Irene enjoyed getting away with friends and family for memorable weekends in the mountains. They were fortunate to have traveled to destinations such as Hawaii, Alaska, Branson, and Europe. There was always another adventure to be had and Bob liked to make sure everyone had fun.

He spent almost a decade visiting Irene twice a day at the Memory Care Facility. He was a loving, dedicated husband. Together they had almost 60 wonderful years. Bob was a father with a great sense of knowing what needed to be done. He was the family’s steady rock, stepping in with ease when someone needed to be provided or cared for. Again, he always had that contagious smile that just seemed to make things easier.

Bob is survived in death by his daughter, Debra (Burt) Newbry of Anacortes, WA; grandchildren, Melissa Newbry of Anacortes, WA; great-grandchildren, Lauryn and Cayson Stanfield of Yuma, AZ.

He was preceded in passing by his wife, Irene Stanfield; parents, James and Lila Stanfield; son, Glen Stanfield; sisters, Beth Stanfield, Mildred Hagen; brother, Hugh Stanfield; and granddaughter, Michelle Stanfield.

Donations may be made to Peace Hospice.
