Shizuko Sato Fischer, of Great Falls, passed away from cancer on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Peace Hospice. A Visitaion will be held Friday, August 26th from 6pm-8pm in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home. Her Funeral Service will be held the following day, Saturday, August 27th, at 11:00am, also at Croxfords, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.

Suzie, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Saiki City, Japan in December of 1930, the fourth of six children. She met her beloved husband, Vern, when he was in the Navy. He returned after being discharged and they married in Yokohama, Japan on September 16, 1958, and she became a U.S. citizen five years later. They had no children of their own but several nieces and nephews that are like children to them.  Edith, her mother-in-law, was her mentor and close friend.

In the early 60’s they opened Fischer Sato Imports selling oriental foods and such.  Suzie was a devoted homemaker and part owner of Fischer Mobile Home Park. She and Vern were inseparable; they did everything together, including fast draw & western skits. They enjoyed traveling around all 50 states, Canada, Central America, and Japan, and had family visit here. Suzie enjoyed her Japanese heritage and friends, sewing, cards, and gardening, including chasing rabbits from it. She is dearly loved by family and friends.

Suzie is survived by her husband of 57 years, Vern Fischer; three siblings, Kenji (Hisako), Kiyoko (Katsunori), and Hiroshi (Haruyo).

She is preceded in death by her parents, Toshimutsu and Ichi Sato, as well as three siblings.

The family thanks all those who visited and gave their support. A special thanks to everyone at Peace Hospice who gave her excellent care.
