David Hofer Obituary

Just as the chores of the day were ending, our Lord called Dave home. A golden heart stopped beating; David Hofer of Surprise Creek Colony passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024, with his family by his side.

Dave was born on November 19, 1962, at King Colony, the first child of Joe and Elizabeth Hofer. When he was just thirteen weeks old, his family moved to Surprise Creek Colony, where he spent the rest of his life.

In 1996, he married the love of his life, his hun, Sally. Dave loved to spend time with Sally, going for rides, singing, and worshipping the Lord.

Dave, who was also fondly known as Phiff, worked various different jobs throughout his life. The one that brought him the most joy was being chicken man. His gentle disposition made him the perfect man for the job for 40 years. The chicken barn was his home away from home, and even up to his last days he still found the strength to make it to the barn.

David was a quiet man by nature but oh, how he could tell a story. His nieces and nephews would sit for hours and listen to him talk about the good ol’ days.

David will be remembered as humble and kind. May he rest in peace.

Left to cherish Dave’s memory is his wife Sally, his mother Elizabeth, his brothers; Joe (Margaret), Ken (Sara), Pete, Minister Mike (Rita), all of Surprise Creek, his sister Sharon (Richard) and his sister-in-law Dorothy (Steve), both of Murray Lake. His mother-in-law Annie and all his sisters in law and brothers in law.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Joe, his brother Kurt, and father-in-law Darius.

The family would like to thank Dr. Guter, the infusion team at the Great Falls Cancer Clinic and Hospice from CMMC for their wonderful care.
