Charles W. Freeman, 75, of Great Falls, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2017 of natural causes. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, February 10, 1-4 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge, 1501 9th St. South, Great Falls.
Charlie was born August 7, 1942 to Chuck and Marie Freeman in San Diego, CA. His family moved to Great Falls, where he graduated from Great Falls High School. Charlie went to work at Buttrey Foods in 1958 spending 54 years with Buttrey Foods and Albertsons. He spent most of his career in the produce department at Holiday Village and the 10th Avenue South locations.
Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing, riding motorcycles & snowmobiles. He loved to spend time at Holter Lake, Swan Lake, and his cabin. Later in life, he developed a love of cooking. He could be found in his kitchen making a batch of soup or baking a delicious treat. He always had soup or a baked good to share with family and friends. He valued spending time with his loved ones. He enjoyed having lunch and shooting pool with his friends too.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Marie Freeman.
He will be missed by his best friend, Jerry Wojtala; sister, Joy Schenck; niece, Charla (Rick Ferrin) Merja; nephew, Brent Schenck; great nephew, Cody (Justina) Merja; great nieces, Mackenzie and Brooklynn Merja; great-grandniece, Ruth Lynn Merja.
Charlie was beyond lucky to have Jerry Wojtala in his life. Few people have the privilege of having such a supportive and giving friend. The family is very grateful he had you in his life.
