Don was born March 19, 1939 in Fromberg, MT to Emanuel and Ann Haman. His family relocated to Great Falls, when he was five. The first school he attended was the Ursuline Academy. He later graduated from Great Falls High School. Right after graduating he joined the Army on the “Buddy Plan”. He received his basic training at Ft. Benning, GA. Don served in Bamberg, Germany for two years and nine months. He received numerous awards, including the Expert Infantry Badge & the Marksman Badge in rifle. Don returned home to Great Falls on July 26, 1960, and continued to serve three more years in the Army Reserves. He married the love of his life, Bonnie on December 3, 1960 in Great Falls. They were blessed with two girls, one son, and many cherished memories. Don was a self-employed contractor from 1967 until his retirement in 2009, he also served on the City-County Planning Board of Adjustments for two terms. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and had served in several officer positions.

Don loved living in Montana, because of all the outdoor activities it offered. He loved to travel in his motorhome with Bonnie and their dachshunds. He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, four wheeling, and fishing in Kings Hill and the Middle Fork Ranch area. He was also one heck of a softball player! One of his favorite pastimes was socializing with friends, family and TALKING about all those good times he had, with a cold beer in his hand.
