Jerry Duane "Sarge" Blouin

June 11, 1931 ~ December 24, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Jerry Duane “Sarge” Blouin, 86, of Dutton, passed away on December 24, 2017 at his home, with his adoring family by his side. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Dutton American Legion Hall with burial to follow at the Dutton Cemetery.

Jerry was born on June 11, 1931 in DeLamere, ND to James J. Blouin and Selena Vivian (Durgin) Blouin. He was raised in DeLamere with his six siblings, Kathleen, James, Lesley, Norman, David and Virginia. He graduated from the DeLamere School. After graduation he worked at a local farm before deciding to join the US Air Force, serving for 21 years. He served his country; including stints in Scotland, England, Germany, Spain and Vietnam. While serving in Scotland, he met his first wife, Norma May Cairns and they had two children, a son Allan John Blouin and a daughter Collette Tracy Wilson. Jerry and Norma later divorced, but he always stayed close to his Scottish family. Jerry returned home and met his love, Joyce Mae Peterson, they married in 1975. They spent the next 17 wonderful years together until her passing in 1992.

Jerry worked at many places over the years including, owner of the Half Moon Saloon in Augusta MT, Dutton Mercantile, aka "The Merc". As well as VanHorn Ranch Company, Town of Dutton, and before retiring he worked a (12 year) harvest with his friends, Link & Sherrill Nowlin. Jerry also served on the Augusta and Dutton Volunteer Fire Departments and from 1973 until his passing he was an active member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed storytelling and his daily coffee hour at the town office. Jerry loved cooking and could make a meal out of almost anything. Also, he enjoyed working at the Dutton Depot with his friends, and making toys for Toys for Tots.

Jerry leaves behind a daughter, Collette T Wilson; grandson, Luke K Wilson and “his son-in-law in training”, Randy Rossmiller; son, Bruno Blouin; grandsons, Murray (Lauren), Keiron and Brendon Brunning, great-granddaughter, Aria Brunning; son, Carl Moss (Julia); stepchildren, Torve Peterson, Shawn Erickson (Dan); sisters, Virginia Balek, and Kathleen Hlavnicka, and brother, Norman Blouin; special friend, Deanna Kimball and numerous amazing nephews and nieces, and many, many wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Blouin, Selena Vivian Wilson; stepfather, John Wilson; son, Allan John Blouin; brothers, James, Leslie and David Blouin; his loving wife, Joyce Mae Blouin; brother-in-law, Stan Balek; father-in-law, Frederick K Cairns and friend, Norma May Blouin.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to the American Legion Post #64 in Dutton or Shriners Hospital for Children in his name.
