Madeline I. McCracken was born on September 13, 1912 to Albert Lee and Emily Perkins Rehkopf near Stockport, Iowa and passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Cremation has been entrusted to Croxford Funeral Home.
Madeline graduated from Stockport High School in 1930 then attending Parson College in Fairfield, Iowa to obtain her teaching certificate. She taught for two years in her rural home school.
On April 26, 1933, she and Stuart B. McCracken were married at the home of her parents. Two children, a daughter, Beverly Brooks and one son, Bryce Stuart were born to them. Stuart was a rural teacher for nine years and then went on to work for the government. His work took them to two places in Iowa, North and South Dakota, Colorado, and Montana. In 1964 he was sent to Montana to work on the missile silos and they never left, retiring in 1969 in Great Falls.
In 1964, Madeline became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Great Falls and she held several offices for the United Methodist Women and worked wherever she was needed for as long as she was able. She faithfully attended church and was Grandmother of the Year in 1985.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart and son, Bryce, both in 1999; daughter, Beverly in 2004; daughter-in-law, Vicki in 2008; parents, Albert and Emily; one brother, Floyd Rehkopf, and nephew, Richard Rehkopf.
Madeline is survived in passing by four loving grandchildren, Shannon (Barbara) Bolton of Lolo, MT, Jeffrey (Karen) Bolton of Sierra Vista, AZ, Valerie (Matt) Meister of Vancouver, WA, and Mark McCracken of Great Falls, MT; five loving great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Jaimie, Madison, Paul, Nathan; two son-in-law’s, Sam Bolton and Richard Field; eight great-great grandchildren, Noel, Ivy, Liam, Cerriahua, Ezra, Gretchen, Soren, and Britt; one niece Etta Marlene Fleming and many other relatives and friends.
