Peggy Eileen Hedstrom, 64, died June 22, 2017 in Alberta, Canada as a result of a tragic accident.

A Memorial Service will be held in Great Falls on Saturday, July 29th, at 2 pm in the Rose Room Chapel at the Croxford Funeral Home, celebrating the lives of Peggy and her father, Ed Hedstrom.

Peggy was born in Havre, Montana to Ed and Hazel Hedstrom. She graduated from Havre High School in 1971 and was awarded a BS degree in business administration from the University of Denver in 1985. She had a long career in the oil and gas contracting and distribution business, starting in Havre and ending up in Calgary, Alberta, successfully completing her career doing the work at which she excelled.

After retirement she enthusiastically launched herself into new pursuits of personal growth and learning. As she sought a better understanding of herself and her place in the world, she met and became a life partner with Rudy Strobl, a resident of Calgary. She loved to travel and explore; she made several trips to the islands of Kauai and Maui, hiking along the shores, whale-watching and snorkeling with the sea turtles. She also visited Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand, Australia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Peru.  She was an avid golfer, playing golf in as many places and as frequently as possible.

With her passing, a bright light went out in our family. She was a resilient, capable and compassionate woman, generous in supporting her family and so helpful to her parents when they moved from their Great Falls home of over 40 years to a senior living facility. She and Rudy assisted extensively with the relocation and the sale of her parent’s house; they helped furnish and decorate the new apartment to make it feel like home. She also handled much of her parent’s finances.

Peggy will be terribly missed by those of us who survive her; Peggy’s partner, Rudy and his family; mother, Hazel; brothers and sisters, Linda (Steffel), Steve (Janie), Janet, and Mark (Sharon). Also missing her dearly are her Montana nieces and nephews, Laura, Stephanie, Matt, Jeff, Mandy, Jared, and Josh and their children and spouses as well as Peggy’s many close friends in Canada.

Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Edward Hedstrom, with whom she had a strong and loving bond. She was by his side when he passed away and is now his golf partner in heaven.
