Raymond “Bud” Frank Settera, 85, of Fort Benton, MT., passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 of natural causes at home in Fort Benton surrounded by his loved ones. Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to Croxford Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Bud Settera was born in Peerless, MT., November 19, 1931 to Frank and Emilie Settera on Richland, MT. He attended schools in Richland and in Great Falls. He moved to the Geraldine area when he was 19 and worked for Tom Bronec as a farm laborer. He met his wife at Sq. Butte, MT and they were married July 3, 1952.

Shortly after his marriage to Carolyn, Bud was drafted into the Army. He took his training at Fort Ord, CA after which he was shipped out for a tour of duty on the front lines of the Korean War. He returned home in 1954 and began working for Chouteau County on the “Bridge Crew”. Later in the same year, the family made the move to Ft. Benton, continuing his work for the County Road Department for 43 years, until retiring in 1997, due to health-related issues.

Bud is survived by his wife and best friend of 65 years, Carolyn of Ft. Benton. Daughters, Cheryl (Steve) Adelhardt of Harper, KS, Sue Settera of Great Falls, MT, Judy (J.R) Rosales Of Great Falls, MT. His son Michael (Tammy) Settera of Great Falls, MT. Grandchildren Jayme, Stephanie, Samantha, RaeLynn, Shelley, Jay, Tony, Jake, Carlie, and David. Great Grandchildren, Maddie, Abby, JP, Ashton, Jase, Brenna, Andrew, and Everleigh

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Settera; sons, Raymond “Buddy” Lee and Frank Joseph Settera.

Memorials may be made to St. Judes or to the choice of the donor.
