Marybeth and girls,
I was so very sorry to hear of Dick's passing. The neighborhood won't be the same without him. I guess if there are yard sales in Heaven, we know what he and Daddy will be doing! Our sympathy and prayers to you all.

I have only but fond memories about Dick Mansfield. I was fortunate to have him as a teacher when catching my first fish at age 10 by their cabin on Willow Creek. I remember how clear the water was and how his patience stayed consistent that whole afternoon. He believed in me. He believed that I would not go home without catching something.
He had a solution for everything thatcame up with the kids in the neighborhood. Whether fixing that broken swing set or ridding us of that scary hornets nest. He and his beloved wife were warm hosts as all of us kids would spend time in their basement attempting to compose music on their player piano. During holidays, he would always be the one putting up the manger. One day it would magically appear and we knew it who had done it. What a close and loving family he raised. My father and him would share a Hamm's beer and talk about auto industry. Two summers ago was the last time I saw Dick. That evening I saw the same man, a loving father and faithful husband. Despite not being there physically, my heart all the most present with his family in this time of sorrow, and celebrating the life of one honorable man.
