Richard Lee Thoroughman, 65, of Fort Shaw passed away July 22, 2017. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 28 at the Rose Room Chapel inside Croxford Funeral Home.

Richard was born on August 20, 1951 in Great Falls to Robert and Eula Thoroughman. Richard went to Simms High School, afterward he attended Montana State University, Northern. He enjoyed his time working in things that interested him. He spent some time as a supervisor for hill county in the weed district, the building supervisor of Cascade County, and worked at the Conagra feed plant.

Richard was very involved in the history of Montana. He was the Sun River Valley Historian. He was the president of the Sons and Daughters of Montana Pioneers. He was also Involved with the Fort Shaw Fire Department, and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Above all he enjoyed his time learning, teaching, and being involved.

Survivors are his brothers, Jim (Connie) and Bob (Michelle) Thoroughman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews

Those who have preceded Richard in death include his parents, Robert and Eula.

The family suggests that any donations may be made to the Sun River Valley Historical Society, 521 Roosevelt Drive, Sun Prairie, MT  59404 or the Sun River United Methodist Church.
