Richard “Rick” James Sullivan, 61, of Great Falls, ended his long battle with many health problems on Friday, December 15, 2017. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 1 pm in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home.

Rick was born June 30, 1956 in Ogden, Utah. After moving to Montana, Rick spent his childhood in Bannack, MT which he often told stories about, and he looked back on those times as his fondest memories. As a young man he worked in several kitchens, until attending the Trapper Creek Job Corps in Darby, MT to study welding. After finding his footing in the construction industry, he soon found his lifelong passion: roofing. After working for several companies, he started a company of his own, Rocky Mountain Roofing. He later bought Great Falls Roofing, which he owned and managed until the day he died. He had a passion for people and a love for the industry, making him a force to be reckoned with, to those who knew him well in the business community.

Rick’s pure love of life and huge heart made it unthinkable to not want to be around him. His charisma and sense of humor made it impossible to dislike him. His generosity, spirt of forgiveness, and willingness to help others made it difficult to leave him, even in the worst times. His life was not always easy but his greatest strength was persistence. Overcoming adversity and climbing back to the top over and over again was his forte. He touched many lives through his sheer force of personality and taught us many things that we will never, ever be able to forget. He now lives in all those that cared about him, and he will truly never be forgotten.   

Rick was preceded in death by his father, James Sullivan; sister, Teresa Gronseth; cousin, Harold Stufflebean; brother in law, Clifford Schmidt; and many others.

He is survived by his mother, Kathleen Westmoreland; his children, Brandon (Jacob), Jessica, and Michaela Sullivan; brothers, David (Sheri) Sullivan, James Sullivan, Jason (Stevi) Westmoreland; sisters, Malinda Schmidt, Dawn Sullivan, and Donna (Tim) Westmoreland; his niece Katie Morton, who he referred to as his other daughter; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
