Shirley Mae Rust, 86, of Great Falls, passed away on December 13, 2017 at Beehive Assisted Living. A Graveside Service will be held on December 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Highland Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to follow on January 13, 2018 at 1:00 PM at The Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1501 9th St South.

Shirley was born on May 1, 1931 to Lawrence and Flora (Sangray) Lucero in Augusta, MT. Where she attended school until moving to Great Falls and attending Great Falls High. She married her true love, Donald Rust on October 4, 1947. She an Donald shared 69 wonderful years until his passing in May of 2017. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She endured a disabling illness that she battled throughout her life.

Shirley and Don’s families were very close, and they spent many wonderful times together at their summer home in Augusta and at Swan Lake. Large family gatherings were always very special to her. Shirley found time for some of her favorite pastimes, such as crossword puzzles and long conversations on the phone, sometimes lasting hours.

She leaves behind her sons; Rick (Jamie) Rust of Great Falls, and Donald (Sherry) Rust of Great Falls; sister, Lorraine Walker of Great Falls; brother, Sam Lucero of Great Falls; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and her best friend Jo Schultz.

Shirley goes home to join her husband, Donald Rust; parents, Flora and Lawrence Lucero; brothers, Clarence Lucero, Walter Lucero, Eugene Lucero, Lawrence Lucero, and George Lucero; sisters, Norita “Rita” Earnest, Lucille Raught, Rosemary Cline, and Laura Shell.
