Stanley Howard Wardinsky

August 26, 1921 ~ October 10, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Stanley Howard Wardinsky, 96, of Great Falls, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 of natural causes.

Stan was born on August 26, 1921 in Great Falls and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1939.  Stan was one of the “greatest generation”.   Drafted in 1942 he served in the Army Air Corps on Kwajalein and Enewetak.  He served in WWII, along with his brothers, Frank and Gordon.  The mettle of a family is shown in its sons and daughters…without question, he believed in God, Country, and the Flag.

In 1942, Stan married Elizabeth (Libby) Mauk, the mother of his children.  She died in 1965.  He later married Lois McKinnon of Great Falls in 1979.  Lois passed away in 2015.

After the war Stan worked at the Smelter in Great Falls and later was a construction foreman for Sletten Construction Company.  He was the Assistant Superintendent during the construction of CMR High School.  He was also the foreman for the Malmstrom AFB chapel, the Liberty Theatre remodel and many other projects in Great Falls.

Stan was active in The Treasure Statesmen Barbershop chorus, Elks Club, Sons of the Pioneers, Optimist Club, and the UCM Church Choir.  He also served on the Class of 1939 Reunion Committee.  As a member of the Skunk Club, he was very proud of his 1959 Cadillac Coupe DeVille.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Elizabeth and Lois; parents, Harry and Pearl Wardinsky; and brother, Frank Wardinsky.

Stan is survived by his children, Stanlee Ann (Robert) Dull of Great Falls, Fred (Peggy) Wardinsky of Helena, and Jill Norling (Greg), of Kenmore, Washington; grandchildren, Bobby, Erin, Mike, Russ, Andi, Kimi, Libby, Jill Marie, Adam, Jen and Annie and nine great-grandchildren. His brother, Gordon, resides in Kalispell.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, October 28, 11:00 A.M. at the Christ United Methodist Church, 2900 9th Avenue South Great Falls.

Memorials can be made to the Community Food Bank of Great Falls, 1620 12th Avenue North, Great Falls, MT  59401
