Vernon L. Sumner

Vernon “Vern” Leroy Sumner of Raynesford, MT passed away Monday, March 4, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 9. 2019 at The Lookout near Dearborn, MT with the time to be announced at a later date.

 Vern was born July 9, 1943 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Ralph and Alma Sumner. In his early years, Vern logged in Minnesota before moving Montana where he married Kathy Claridge. They had two children together, James and Melody. Vern moved to Butte in the early 70s where he worked for Prinzing Inc, doing masonry work. He later worked for Marty Salusso for many years. Vern married Mary DuBois in 1983 and remained married to her until the time of his death.

Vern's passions were working on engines and being in the outdoors. Most every weekend he was out getting firewood with one of his many canine companions he had over the years.

He his preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Alma, and his sister Rose Casselman.

Vern is survived by his son, James Sumner; daughter, Melody Sumner; wife, Mary Sumner; step-children, Jeff Hoffman, Jacque Hoffman, and Paula Barrows; brother, Richard Sumner (Linda); sister, Shirley Graham; 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
