Warren John Roberts

Warren John Roberts 93, an Air Force Veteran and Mechanical Engineer died of natural causes on December 13, 2017 at Peace Hospice in Great Falls, Mt.

Warren was born February 17th, 1924 in Seattle, WA to Bert and Pauline Roberts. When Warren was a toddler, they moved as a family to Great Falls, MT, where he attended schools and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1942.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943-1945.

He attended college at Montana State University in Bozeman and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

Warren married Frances L. Galt in in Stanford, MT on August 31, 1947. Together they raised three daughters. They celebrated 50 years of marriage with a party at the Elks Club August 31, 1997. Frances passed away in June of 1998. He married Janice Christofferson on September 3, 2005, and together they traveled and danced, enjoying life until his death.

Warren worked for the Anaconda Co. in Great Falls, MT before attending college. After graduation from college he worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Later he worked at Malmstrom Air Force Base for the Base Civil Engineer for 26 years and was the Chief of Minuteman Missile Engineering for the Strategic Air Command from 1961-1971. He also worked at Malmstrom Air Force Base as Division Engineer for the 24th Division.

After retiring from Malmstrom AFB, he worked for Drapes Engineering in Great Falls, The Dept. of Health in Helena, and Bechtel Power in Colstrip, MT.

Warren was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served and an Elder. He was a member of the Masonic and Scottish rite bodies and Al Bedoo Shrine Temple in Billings, MT and the Royal Order of Jesters, Court #87, Billings, MT. He was a Past Exalted Ruler and a Life Member of Elks Lodge and Past Commander of the American Legion, Post #3 Great Falls, MT.

Survivors include his wife Janice, three daughters, Lynn (Tony) Maiorca of Vancouver, WA, Nancy (Tom) Hughes of Helena, MT, Elizabeth (Martin) Sorensen of Billings, MT. Two granddaughters, Amanda (Neil) Mauws of Lewistown, MT, and Kara Hughes (Ross) of Helena, MT. Two great grandchildren, James and Dominic Mauws, of Lewistown, MT.

Brother in laws Jim Galt of Stanford, MT and Bernie Bissell of Bozeman, MT.   Sister in law Judy Hawkins of Ohio.  Nephews Jim Galt of Arizona, Bob Galt of Malta, MT.  Nieces Jackie Urick, of Stanford, MT and LeAnn Feisthamel of Great Falls.

 

Step children, Justin Christofferson and Karlan Rielly of Georgia, Stefani Jennings of Great Falls.

Step grandchildren include Cody, Jordan, Hadyn, Quinton, Macale, Treyson, Austin, and Karlene.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday December 17, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church and graveside serve at a later date.
