Barbara C. Stevenson, 64, of Great Falls, MT passed away on March 9, 2021. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 15th at 3:00 PM in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home.
She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Cancer may have taken her, but never took away from her life. Barbara persevered. Everybody knew Barbara was an extremely hard-working, dedicated individual with a heart of gold. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, which brought out her inner child. Other passions included coloring, Michael Jackson, fashion, movies/TV, bingo, and puzzles. She always knew all the actors. Barbara was known for her memory, a fact that makes her absence even more felt as we try to gather all the good memories we have of her to get a full picture of her life.
Barbara was born on March 17, 1956, to James Stevenson Sr. and Frieda (Flemming) Stevenson in Kassel, Germany. While growing up, she lived in Germany, Spain, and Montana. While Barbara enjoyed living in Bigfork, MT, she lived in Great Falls most of her life and considered it home. She was one of five children, Peggy Stevenson, Rainer Stevenson, Carmen Preston, and James Stevenson Jr.
In 1974, Barbara graduated from Charles M. Russell High School. She worked at the mess hall on Malmstrom Airforce Base for almost 30 years doing a variety of jobs. Her next major job was at the Montana School for the Deaf and Blind (MSDB) where she worked for ten years as a cottage attendant and learned American Sign Language (ASL). At MSDB, Barbara impacted not only the children but the staff in a positive way. She always cared about the people she worked with and not even cancer could stop her devotion to helping others. After her time at MSDB, Barbara retired.
Barbara was never married nor had any children of her own but had many nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own. Punkin, her cat, was loved dearly by Barbara as well. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, James Stevenson Sr. and Frieda (Flemming) Stevenson.
She is survived by her four siblings, Carmen Preston, Peggy Stevenson, James Stevenson Jr., and Rainer Stevenson.
Her life is cherished by many and she will be immensely missed.
