Charlene Maxine (Williams) Jenson

September 11, 1927 ~ May 17, 2021 (age 93)

Obituary

Charlene Maxine Williams Jenson, 93, quietly passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021, at home in Choteau, MT. She was born September 11, 1927, in Merkel, TX, to Gertrude Irene Stutts and James Oval Williams. She was the third of five children; her siblings included: Vernon (Bud) Williams, Velma Joiner, Bonnie Yarbro, and Lucille Dalton.

Charlene moved to California at the age of four, spending her childhood years in Bakersfield, Tulare, and Visalia. Of necessity, she learned to work early in life in order to help provide for her siblings who she loved dearly and with whom she is surely having a joyous reunion. She loved to dance, go to the movies, and spend time with friends.

She met the love of her life, Andrew, at a New Year’s Eve dance. They were married June 2, 1945, in Salt Lake City, UT; later solemnized in the Cardston Alberta LDS Temple on October 25, 1962. They celebrated 75 years together in 2020 and were inseparable in their work, faith, challenges, and successes. After farming in Agawam for several years, they moved into Choteau and together owned and operated Andy’s Appliance Center.

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Charlene served in the Relief Society and Primary. She loved teaching and serving those around her and has a sure relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Family is everything to Charlene; she adored her husband; she treasured every one of her children; and every grandchild secretly believed he or she was grandma’s favorite. She will be remembered in countless and loving ways, including 4th of July parades, $2 bills in birthday cards, homemade jam, summer vacations, playing cards and Yahtzee (we always looked the other way when she cheated), a home filled with photographs and houseplants, fried chicken with peas and potatoes, homemade caramels, weekly hair appointments, hugs, kisses, and lots of love.

Charlene is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Andrew Udell Jenson, Choteau; children, Sheila (Edward) Arensmeyer, Cut Bank, MT; Michael, Boise, ID; Randy, Great Falls, MT; and Toni, Melbourne, KY; son-in law, Richard Beckman, Boise, ID; daughter-in-law, Sherri Harris, Gilbert, AZ; and sister-in-law, Ilene Jenson, Choteau; 28 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and their spouses; children Cathy Lynn Beckman, Steven Udell Jenson, and Linda Kaye Jenson; and a great-granddaughter, Kirsten Arensmeyer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Choteau with a viewing before at 10:00 a.m. Services are under the care of Croxford Funeral Home. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.croxfordfuneralhome.com
