Chief Master Sergeant James A. Robertson, 55 of Great Falls passed away after a long battle with cancer, on November 10, 2015.

Visitation open to friends and family will be held in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Rod Kopp of Faith Center officiating and full military honors presented by the Montana Air National Guard. For those who cannot attend, the service will be available via Livestream at www.croxfordfuneralhome.com.

James was born July 1, 1960 in Conrad, Montana to David and Ilene (Bartlett) Robertson. He grew up in Great Falls, Montana and graduated from Charles M. Russell High School in 1979. In 1983 Chief Robertson enlisted in the United States Air Force. He completed Basic Military Training, at Lackland AFB in Texas. Chief Robertson was assigned to Castle AFB, Shemya AFB and Malmstrom AFB during his nine years in the USAF and honorably discharged in 1992. He joined the Montana Air National Guard immediately after leaving the USAF, from 1992-1995 he was a traditional guardsman. In 1995 he was hired as a fulltime technician as the document control specialist. In 2012, he achieved his Associates Degree in Applied Science Logistics, Community College of the Air Force. He was currently the Operations Superintendent, responsible for overall squadron compliance.

Chief Robertson’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Medal two devices, AF Achievement Medal one device, Meritorious Unit Award, AF Outstanding Unit Award with four devices, AF Good Conduct Medal one device, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal six devices, National Defense Service Medal with one device, Iraqi Campaign Medal one device, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service Medal, AF Overseas Ribbon Short, AF Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border one device, AF Longevity Service Award six devices, Armed Forces Reserve Medal 4W/M and bronze hour glass, USAF NCO PME Graduate Ribbon one device, AF Training Ribbon, MTNG Distinguished Service Medal, MTNG Commendation Medal, MTNG Outstanding Unit Award one device, MTNG Campaign Ribbon two devices, MTNG Noble Eagle Ribbon, MTNG OConus Ribbon two devices, MTNG Service Ribbon three devices, MTNG Attendance Ribbon with 8 devices.

Jim was a genuine soul and touched everyone who met him. He lived his faith. Jim enjoyed running, golfing, but most of all spending time with his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Robertson; his son, Craig Robertson; daughter Jamie (Nathan) Palmer; and his grandchildren, Trever; Auston; Boston; Olivia; Anthony; and Kameron; his brothers Mike (May) Robertson; Steve (Loraine) Robertson; Randy (Mary) Robertson; and Lonnie (Judy) Robertson; his sisters, Misty Ray; Sheryl Sharbono; Connie Choate; Darlene Williams; and his mother, Ilene Broere; step-mother Dorothy Robertson; sister-in-law Debbie (John) Roeber; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jim was proceeded in death by his father, David Robertson; his grandparents, Lynn and Alice Bartlett; and Peter and Angela Robertson.

In lieu of flowers, Jim requested memorial donations be made to Faith Center 4700 10th Ave. South, Great Falls MT 59405.
