Simms, Montana native Dell McCann passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 in Great Falls. Born August 10, 1945, Dell is the son of Verna Bernice McCann (Moore) and Burdell McCann. He graduated from Simms High School in 1963. Dell married Elizabeth “Bette” Stannard in 1965, and they had twins Dell and Dawn. He was a proud Air Force Veteran and served for four years, then spent thirteen years in the Army and Air National Guard. Bette and Dell divorced in 1983. Dell remarried in 1993 to Joann McCann.

He earned his associate of agricultural business in 1974, which led to many valuable jobs and experiences. In his younger years he loved singing and always loved music. He loved the outdoors, whether it be sitting outside on a hot day or going for a drive on a dusty gravel road. Dell had a passion for cooking, which also tied back into his military career. His family meant the world to him. Dell Roy McCann will always be loved and remembered by those in the Sun River Valley community.

Dell is survived by his loving wife JoAnn McCann, his two children, Dell and Dawn McCann; granddaughter Courtney Adell McCann; brother Fred Holland (Diana) and sisters Connie Walsh (Dan) and Lola Gravelle (Dick). Later in life, he discovered he had two additional half brothers: Lee McCann and Gary McCann. Also, his aunt Eva June Andersen, and Pat Andersen, cousin and close friend to Dell and JoAnn. Step-children James Bevan (Amy), and Joe Cooper (Denna), as well as several step grandchildren including Tyler, Jaxen, Todd, Kayla, and Ashley, and nieces and nephews. Dell is proceeded in death by his best friend and cousin Dennis Andersen. Dell was a friend to many, and was well-loved in his community.

Graveside services will be held at the Sun River cemetery on Friday, April 10th at 1:00 PM with a reception to follow at the VFW club in Fairfield.
