Donald Selmer Stengrimson, 81 of Fairfield, passed away on New Year’s Day 2015. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 5th at 2:00pm at Saint John Lutheran Church in Fairfield. A Graveside Service will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Donald was born March 13, 1933 in Great Falls and raised on the Fairfield Bench. He received his education at Power Elementary and High School, graduating in 1951, where he was active in sports. In 1953 he was married to his one true love, Irene Brady. They were blessed with three children and nearly 62 years of marriage. The family enjoyed outdoor activities of camping, fishing and hunting. Donald loved playing cards and dancing, but most of all he loved to spoil and play with his grandkids and great-grandkids.

He was a lifelong farmer, but also worked for 11 years at the Anaconda Company in Great Falls and part-time for 26 years at Eisenman’s (Busch) Elevator in Fairfield. He served on Greenfield School Board, held many church offices and was a board member of Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Irene Stengrimson; daughters, Sherie (Mike) Young of Fort Shaw and Barb (Steve) Nickliss of Butte; son, Terry (Jodi) Stengrimson of Power; grandchildren, Russell (Traci) Martello, Andrea(Justin) Joyce, Kindra (Dirk) Wise, Jason Young, Heather Young, Jeremy (Cristy) Stengrimson, Nicole (Elijah) Anderson, Levi Stengrimson, Dustin Stengrimson, Kellie Taylor Carter, Bobbie (Bob) Voegel, Matt (Ashley) Taylor, Corey Nickliss; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie (Arnie) Fischer; uncle, Allen (Mary) Schwartz, who was more like a brother; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lyall (Joan) Brady, Dale (Clairice) Brady, Alvy (Mary) Brady, Leta Lutke, Charlotte Brady; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends.

Those who have preceded him in death include his parents, Selmer and Dora (Asmus) Stengrimson; a brother, Orville; and sister, Patty Lou.
