Edward C. Robbins, affectionately known as "Ted" passed away on October 28, 2023, at the age of 83. Born on May 26, 1940, in Great Falls, MT, to Gayland and Sara (Norris) Robbins, Ted's life was marked by resilience and a deep sense of community.
Despite facing adversity from an early age, Ted's spirit remained unwavering. An eye accident as an infant and a subsequent childhood injury forged a work ethic that would guide him throughout his life. He graduated from Simms High School in 1958 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from BYU, a testament to his determination.
Ted's greatest source of pride was his family, which grew to nine children, 35 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren over the years. He married the love of his life, Anna Wright, on September 18, 1959, and together they celebrated 64 years of marriage. Ted's early career as a cost accountant took him to various places, including Hill Air Force Base in Utah and Titanium Metals in Las Vegas, before returning to Simms to raise his family on the cherished family farm.
Over the course of 11 years, he spent over two years in the Spokane Shriners Hospital, where he received crucial care and support. Despite facing the loss of vision in both eyes by 39 years old, Ted's indomitable spirit continued to shine. He served as Treasurer for both the Montana Association of the Blind and the National Federation of the Blind of Montana, embodying a commitment to advocacy and community. In 1994, Ted and Anna transitioned to Great Falls, where Ted took on the role of CEO at MBEI (Montana Business Enterprises Inc.), working diligently until the age of 81, using a computer equipped with assistive technology.
Ted was a dedicated disciple of Christ. He served the Lord through the many callings and opportunities throughout his life, blessing countless others. His dedication to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was evident through his 19-years as Patriarch of the Great Falls Montana Stake and his involvement in various stake and ward positions.
Ted's legacy is one of determination, service, and love for family. He had many sayings that are remembered and serve as a lasting reminder of his enduring spirit.
Ted is survived by his beloved wife Anna, children Angelia (Scott) Ollerton, GayLynn Bohman, Francis (Janice) Robbins, David (Kathie) Robbins, Nate (Thong) Robbins, Ben Robbins, Sam (Amy) Robbins, Ramona (Tim) Romo, Ruth (Scott) Corey, 34 grandchildren and 38 great- grandchildren. Ted is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Ann, Raeda, Norris “Buddy”, and Connie, son-in-law Brian Bohman, and granddaughter Sarali Robbins. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Ted's life will be held on November 4, 2023 at 1:00pm, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at: 1401 Ninth St NW, Great Falls, MT 59404.
