Edwin A. Sapp

February 13, 1927 ~ May 29, 2015 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Edwin A. Sapp, 88, of Great Falls, passed away at The Lodge under the care of Peace Hospice on May 29, 2015 of natural causes. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at New Hope Lutheran Ministry located at 3125 5th Ave. South, Great Falls on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held later at Hillcrest Lawn Mausoleum.

Edwin was born February 13, 1927 in Havre, MT to Edward and Margaret Sapp. He joined the Army in 1945, serving as a Staff Sergeant, and was honorably discharged in January of 1947. That same year he married his first wife, Doris Kiepke, and remained happily together until her passing in 1995. Edwin worked at Buttrey Foods beginning in 1953, retiring from there in 1978. He was a card carrying member of the Teamsters local union and a retired truck driver. Edwin was fortunate enough to marry again, marrying his second wife, Ellen, in 2001. They shared many happy times until her passing in 2012.

Edwin found great joy in the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing or boating at Holter Lake. He loved playing cards, with pinochle being his game of choice. He enjoyed helping out with Mended Hearts at Benefis Hospital, where he provided emotional support for patients and family members being treated for cardiac related illnesses.

Survivors include daughter, Sandra Holme of Great Falls; sons, Greg Sapp of Billings, MT and Edwin Sapp of Great Falls; brother, Henry Sapp of Havre, MT; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Those who have preceded him in death include his parents; first wife Doris; second wife Ellen; and 10 siblings.

Memorial donations may be sent to Meals on Wheels at 1620 12th Ave. N, Great Falls, or New Hope Lutheran Ministry.
