Ellington Bender Obituary

Elington Elroy Bender died peacefully at home in Castaic, California on January 30th, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Evelyn, and his two daughters, Gerri Berrios of Syracuse, NY, and Sheila (Mike) Garrett of Castaic, California. He and Evelyn have 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Elington Bender & Evelyn Wonnenberg were married September 10, 1944, in Medicine Hat, Alberta,Canada. They moved to Great Falls, Montana, in the spring of 1945.

Elington was a member of the US Army and performed as a Medical Aidman in that capacity. After leaving the service, he worked for the Montana State Highway Department until his retirement in 1980, and was an active member of the Moose and Eagles Lodges. He was an avid and proud bowler, with equal enjoyment in fishing the Montana lakes, and riding motorcycles near the Continental Divide as a younger man.

He and his wife, Evelyn, moved to Castaic, CA, in 2013, with daughter Sheila Garrett and husband, Mike Garrett.

El Bender was known as a family man, with dedication to the well-being of all family members. He was dedicated to a higher-education for his daughters, a healthy environment for all animals, and he lived in the garage building and fixing all things! He was a true mechanic!

He was loved, and will be missed each and every day.
