Elsie Lyda Hassa
June 3, 1941 – April 29, 2025

Elsie Lyda Boehm Hassa, 83, passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 29, 2025, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls, Montana.

Born on June 3, 1941, to Marie and Herbert Boehm, Elsie was raised south of Rudyard and attended school in Big Sandy graduating in 1959. In 1962, she married Clem Hassa, and together they had three children: Colleen, David, and Darrell. After the couple divorced, Elsie dedicated herself to raising her children in Rudyard, Montana.

Elsie was a hardworking and compassionate member of her community, devoting much of her life to service and care. She worked for many years as a school cook, where her warm meals and kind spirit left a lasting impression on generations of students. She also worked for many years at the Rudyard Movie Theatre as well as cooking at the local cafe. She always greeted everyone with a smile. 

Over the years, Elsie also found great joy in providing childcare for many families in the Rudyard area. Whether she was caring for children, supporting the community, or lending a hand to others, Elsie’s compassion knew no bounds.  Her greatest joy of all was spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Darrell.

Elsie is survived by her daughter, Colleen Diemert; her son, David Hassa (Julie), sister Francy Moseley (Bobby), brother Aaron Boehm (Linda), her cherished granddaughters: Amber Licht (Ryan), Jessica McCleary (Richard), Trisha Brady (Dan), Maryse Diemert, Shelby Ferrell, Devon Green (Hunter), and Jaycelyn Ralph (Jeffrey). She also leaves behind her adored great-grandchildren: Remington and Ruger Licht, Scarlette McCleary, Brielle and Zeke Brady, Ivy Green, and Olivia Ralph; and her beloved nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of life is planned for Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Catholic Youth Center in Rudyard, MT.  Memorials in Elsie’s honor can be made to the Rudyard Community Center or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
