George Pamenter Obituary

George W. Pamenter Sr, 100, of Great Falls, passed away November 1, 2018. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, November 11th, 11:00 A.M at Stanford Cemetery, 65650 Montana Highway 80.

George was born on December 28th, 1917 in Great Falls, Montana. He grew up on a family ranch in Utica, Montana until high school, when they relocated to Great Falls. He graduated from Great Falls High in 1938. His last few years were spent at the Rainbow downtown. He had a sparkle in his eyes till the very end.

 George served in CO I 163RD 41 Division of the U.S. Army during WWII. He was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington and deployed to the South Pacific. He reached the rank of Technical Sergeant. On March 10, 1945, George was wounded in Zamboanga, Mindanao, P.I. He was told by doctors that he would be lucky to live to see the age of 25. He was awarded with a Purple Heart for his injuries. He never boasted about his accomplishments, and in fact, was a man of few words.

George met his wife, Elise Jenny Pamenter in Great Falls. They tied the knot November 12, 1946 on a farm south of Benchland, MT. Together they were blessed with two children and spent 63 years together before Elise’s passing.

George loved spending time hunting and fishing the beautiful Montana outdoors. He was a grand old gentleman of Montana.  He enjoyed collecting aluminum cans to recycle and garden in his spare time. He was a Mason, Eastern Star, Olive Chapter #10.

Survivors are daughter, Anita Pamenter (Gioconda) of Annadale, VA; grandchildren, Tom, Tony and T.J Gioconda, George III and Stephen Pamenter.

Those who have proceeded George in death include his wife, Elise Jenny Pamenter, and their son, George W. Pamenter Jr.
