Geraldine Barton Obituary

Geraldine Mary Barton of Plains, Montana, lived a beautiful life that was shortened by unforeseen circumstances at the age of 62. Her beautiful soul left her body on November 15, 2019, with her husband, children, and grandchildren by her side at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls, Montana. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at the Croxford Funeral Home in Great Falls, Montana. A Memorial Reception will be held following the Service at Triumph Baptist Church, 500 2nd Ave. SW, Great Falls.

Geraldine (Geri or TeddyBear) Barton was born on December 15, 1956, in Anaconda, Montana. She was a beloved and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to those that were in her life. She approached every day with enthusiasm, positivity, courage, and above all, with a great love for her husband, children, and grandchildren. The happiness, strength, and determination she shared with her family, friends, and community will be missed dearly and has left a great void in all of our hearts.

In her younger years, she was an amazing sister to her 18 siblings that grew up with her. She always cherished and loved her parents wholeheartedly. Although Geri was a young mother, she loved her children unconditionally. There is no such thing as a perfect mom, but she was the perfect mother in her children's eyes. If her love for them could move mountains, it would. She was their mama bear.

Later in life, her proudest moments were each birth of her 13 grandchildren. She loved them endlessly. One of her greatest passions was to spend as much time as she could with all of her grandchildren.

In 2003 she met the love of her life, Rocky Barton. He was able to win her heart over while taking her for a late-night countryside ride. She was able to spend 16 years with the man that became her husband and best friend. They married on May 11, 2007, in Missoula, Montana. In 2012 they bought a home in Plains, Montana, where they loved spending holidays and summers with their grandchildren. She also loved her fur babies, Gizmo and Wiggles, her two pugs, and Emma Jean, her cat. She was proud of and loved to boast about her house plants and her garden. A moment to be highlighted was the achievement of the pumpkins she grew in her garden this year.

She was proceeded in death by her mother, Martha Peltier, her father, William Peltier, her sisters, Verna Grace, Gracie, Rosie, Annette, and brothers, Ricky Peltier, Billie, and Richard.

She is survived by her husband, Rocky Barton of Plains, MT, her sons, Larry Gwin (and daughter-in-law, Ellen) of Great Falls, MT, David Segna (and daughter-in-law, Ashely) of Great Falls, Luke Segna of Great Falls, her daughters, Melinda Gwin of Butte, MT, Geri Segna (and daughter-in-law, Gemma Johnson) of Great Falls, MT, her grandchildren, Damion Henderson of Butte, MT, Leigha Acebedo of Missoula, MT, Leanna Gwin of Butte, MT, Shakira Brien of Billings, MT, Michael Brien of Great Falls, MT, Dakota Mitchell of Crosby, MN, Kaelyn Forward of Great Falls, MT, Dominick Brien of Great Falls, MT, Megan Forward of Great Falls, MT, Gabe Gwin of Great Falls, MT, Jersey Peterson of Great Falls, MT, Brayden Vega of Great Falls, and Carol (Cece) Segna of Great Falls, MT, her step-sons, Lee Barton of Thompson Falls, and Darryl Barton of Deer Lodge, MT, her daughter-in-law, Jamie Forward of Great Falls, MT, as well as 5 sister, 7 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date, sometime in the summer of 2020.
