Helen Ruth Christianson passed away January 13, 2021 at the age of 89. Since November of 2018 she had resided at The Lodge, an assisted living facility, in Great Falls, Montana. She went into the hospital in November, 2020 and never quite recovered her health. She was in Hospice care until her passing.

Helen Ruth Christianson passed away January 13, 2021 at the age of 89. Since November of 2018 she had resided at The Lodge, an assisted living facility, in Great Falls, Montana. She went into the hospital in November, 2020 and never quite recovered her health. She was in Hospice care until her passing.
Helen was born December 6, 1931 in Kalispell, MT to Heitman and Helga Kristiansen. She was the youngest child of four children born to Helga. She attended elementary school and high school in Dutton, MT where she graduated in 1949. Helen continued her education in Great Falls, MT at the College of Great Falls earning a teaching certificate. She taught in Power, MT for a period of about two years, but because of a fire at the schoolhouse where Helen was severely burned she never went back to teaching.
Helen went back to Dutton, MT to live where she did child care for many families in the surrounding area. She also did domestic housework, as well as taking care of her parents at the family home. Helen stayed in Dutton, MT for a few years after the passing of her father in 1969. She subsequently met Ernest Christianson at the Sons of Norway Lodge in Great Falls, MT and they married in August of 1974. Helen continued her work as a child care provider and housekeeping. She and Ernie resided in Great Falls, MT the rest of their lives.
When her sister, Ruby, moved back to Montana in 1988, Helen and Ernie shared a duplex with her where they entertained many people. All relatives and friends were welcome to come and stay anytime. They we known as the “party girls” because of their frequent guests and celebrations. They were very popular.
Helen was preceded in death by her mother, Helga (1958), her father (1969), her sister, Ruth (1930), her sister, Ruby (2020), her husband, Ernie (2001). She is survived by her nephew, Ron Welch (Florida) and her brother, Kenneth Edwards (Kalispell).
Croxford Funeral Home of Great Falls, MT is in charge of Helen's interment. No services will be held at this time. A private family and friends' graveside memorial will be held at the Dutton, MT cemetery in June 2021. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.croxfordfuneralhome.com.
