Helmut Gliewe, 93, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at his Great Falls home. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, October 4 in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home at 10:30am.

Born and educated in Germany, he married his wife Erna in 1948 and son after moved to Switzerland, where he worked for Mercedes-Benz as an auto technician. Sponsored by Bill Brown, Helmut immigrated to Great Falls with his wife and children in 1959. Some years later he started an auto repair business which led to the establishment of Helmut’s Auto Sales. Helmut was a member of the Elks Club, enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and was an avid trap shooter.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marlies. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Erna; sons, Klaus (Kathleen) and Andy; granddaughters, Alicia (Dan) Stebbins and Jennifer (Robert) Koch; as well as grandchildren, Piper and Logan Stebbins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Salvation Army, 616 1st Ave NW, Great Falls, MT 59404.
