J.Gordon Hunt Obituary
J. Gordon Hunt, 82, passed away peacefully during the early morning hours of December 11th, 2020; Cremation was entrusted to Croxford Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held in the Rose Room Chapel of Croxford Funeral Home on Saturday July 10th, 2021 at 11AM with a reception to follow.
Born on February 1st, 1938, Gordon was one of three children born to John and Freda (Beevis) Hunt in Kimberly, British Columbia. Although born in Canada, Gordon spent most of his time growing up in Missoula, MT. After graduating high school in 1956 he went on to the University of Montana, where he met the love of his life, Judith Lee Weaver. Gordon and Judy were married on August 24th, 1957 in Red Lodge, MT; they shared 59 years and 4 children.
The couple traveled around Montana, from Deer Lodge to Billings, before finally settling down in Great Falls in 1964. Gordon worked the bulk of his career for Frontier Airlines before moving on to Holman Aviation and finally completing his working life at Cascade Co. Always one to show pride in his work, Gordon had that same pride in his hobbies. He was an accomplished Fly-tier, an avid fisherman, the outdoors and camping were always a source of joy. Gordon also gained joy from his art in pastels and stained glass. Gordon also showed his pride in his community through his volunteer service. He was a longtime volunteer at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center as well as with the local youth hockey association.
Gordon was preceded in death by his loving wife, Judy Hunt.
He is survived by his sons Al “Mo” Hunt, Loren Hunt and Kevin Hunt; daughter Irene Hunt; 3 grandchildren; sister Marjorie Overland and brother Harold Hunt.
