James Hoyt Pomeroy of Great Falls, 96, beloved father, brother, and friend to many, passed-away on June 21, 2020. A Memorial Service in his name is planned for July 18th, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Rose Room Chapel of Croxford Funeral Home.
James was born in Racine, WI on January 1, 1924 to Herbert H. Pomeroy and Vera Cass. After graduation Jim was ready to explore the borders outside Wisconsin and joined the U.S. Army in 1940. He proudly served our country during WWII, earning two Bronze Stars. In 1949 Jim joined the U.S. Air Force and finished his service career at M.A.F.B. During his time with the Army, he met Dorothy V. Flood and the pair were married in Denver, CO on August 20th, 1945. They remained married for 55 years, until her passing. Some of their favorite memories were camping and fishing around the state. James spent his post-service years as a trolly and bus driver. He was a proud member of the Masons, the Scottish Rite, the Eastern Star, and the York Rite. James married Wanda Sem in September of 2004, they shared many wonderful days together, until her passing in 2006.
He is survived by his son, James H. (Sherri Ann) Pomeroy of Great Falls; daughters, Renee (Ed) Neste of Great Falls and Lynn Wagner of Boise, ID; step-son, Steve (Christy) Sem; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Pomeroy; daughter, Kathy Pomeroy; 1st wife, Dorothy Pomeroy; and 2nd wife, Wanda Sem.
Per Jim’s wishes donations are to be made to the children’s closet and altar guild at the Church of the Incarnation, 600 3rd St N, Great Falls, MT 59401.
