Janet Stevens Obituary

An amazing woman, Janet Stevens 82 of Loma, MT left us on Monday September 27, 2021 after a remarkably brief stay in Hospice in Great Falls.

Janet Elizabeth Smith, the fourth child of five was born to Joseph and Pauline (Burchak) Smith May 13, 1939 in Fort Benton.

After her graduation from Fort Benton High School in 1957, she married Harvey Drube, they had 3 children; Margaret, Tom and Dennis. The family moved to Loma, where Janet remained working for a number of years in the office of Big Sky Aerial Photo, long after she and Harvey divorced.

In 1979, Janet and Gary "G.W." Stevens met and began their life together. When Janet & Gary married December 10th,1982 she gained two sons and a daughter. Gary Lee, Troy and Smoque.

Gary and Janet enjoyed many wonderful years together on the farm North of Loma in the Colony Bay area.  After selling the farm, they relocated to their current home in Loma.

Janet enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and caring for her beloved fur babies. When she was able to, she liked to can and cook.  She was known for her Family Famous Relish!  If you left her home after a meal, whether it be an everyday, holiday, branding or harvest meal still hungry - IT WAS YOUR OWN FAULT!  She was an exceptional cook.

In addition to her loving husband Gary, in Loma Janet is survived by sister Pauline Smith (Fort Benton) brother Leslie Smith (Bremerton, WA) her sisters in law Donna Smith, Kathleen Curtis, Arlene Stevens and Tina Tigert. Her children and their Spouses: Tom & Dana Drube (Cataldo, ID), Dennis & Michele Drube (Bozeman), son in law Scott 'Scooter' Blair (Great Falls) Gary Lee & Virginia Stevens (Helena), Troy Stevens (Belgrade), Smoque & Mike Heffley (Mustang, OK).  14 Grandcildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild with another one due to arrive this December. Janet also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all of whom will miss her dearly.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Pauline Smith, sister Joanne Smith, brother Norman Smith, daughter Margaret Blair, grandson Brandon Settles, and an infant great grandson Noah Drube.

Per Janet's request there are no services planned, the internment of her cremains at Clear Lake Cemetery in Geraldine will be determined at a later time.
