Jean Biggart Obituary

Jean Bower Biggart, age 92, passed peacefully with her family by her side, the morning of June 29, 2018 in Great Falls, MT. She grew up on the Bower Ranch at The St. Peter’s Mission outside of Cascade, MT, with her parents, Rex Bower and Ona Harris Bower, and two siblings, Betty A. Bower and Richard C. (Blackie) Bower.

Jean moved to California to attend the College of the Pacific. Upon graduation, she taught Home Economics and Physical Education in San Francisco. She was married to Stephenson R. Biggart with whom she had two children; Carrie and Craig. Jean was a devoted and loving mother who shared the wisdom of her experiences without judgement. Jean moved to Bend, Oregon where she lived for several years before returning home to Montana in 2002.

Jean loved the outdoors and was devoted to kayaking, hiking, cross country skiing, golf, and walking dogs for the Humane Society. At age 79, she explored the Bob Marshall Wilderness on horseback with her son Craig. She hiked the Grand Canyon and traveled to Italy to hike the Dolomites.

Over the course of her life, she touched many with her kind heart, generous spirit, and dry wit.

Jean is survived by her daughter Carrie B. (David N. Jr) Hobson of Hillsboro, OR; son, Craig S. (Veronda A.) Biggart of Cascade, MT; granddaughters, Caroline Hobson of Hillsboro, OR, Brady (Matt) Brooks of Glasgow, MT, Megan (Dustin) Pankratz of Malta, MT; and great-grandchildren, Cooper Pankratz, Wylie Pankratz, Bridger Brooks, and Houston Brooks.

The family would like to express their gratitude to The Azalea Place in Great Falls, MT. She was treated with the utmost care, respect, and kindness and she truly loved the staff and the new friends that she met living there.

The family has requested that those wishing to honor Jeans’ memory, donate in her name to one of the following charities; The YWCA of Great Falls, Humane Society of Cascade County, or The Montana Alzheimer’s Association.
